Privacy
The short version: I keep your contact details if you give them to me, I use them to reply to you and to send you things you’ve asked for, and I never sell them. The longer version is below.

This site, including the Lead the Room courses, is run by Shane Michael Hatton Pty Ltd (Suite 5, 750 Blackburn Road, Clayton, Victoria 3168, Australia). Culture Offsite and Praxis have their own policies on their own sites.
Only what you give me, when you give it:
I don’t build profiles beyond noting how we came to know each other.
To reply to you. To run the bookings, courses and tools you’ve chosen to use. To send you the Useletter if you opted in. To let you know about events, programs and writing I think you’d want to hear about. The emails I send record opens and clicks, which I look at in aggregate to see what’s useful and what isn’t.
A few tools here use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to respond to what you write: the “What’s underneath it?” tool, and on the courses, the tool that helps you sharpen a message and the summary report of your notes and feedback. What you write is sent to Anthropic to produce the response. Course reports are saved to your course account so you can come back to them. It’s worth leaving out anything sensitive, like other people’s names.
The website doesn’t use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and the public pages set no cookies. If you sign in to a course, your browser keeps a sign-in token so you stay signed in, and that’s all it’s used for.

Several of these are US companies, so your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States. Each keeps it under its own security standards and its own privacy policy.
Useletter and customer records stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. If you ask me to check in after a conversation, I keep that email address for about a fortnight, send one email, then delete it. What you type into the “What’s underneath it?” tool isn’t stored by this site at all.
If you’re in the EU or the UK, I only add you to a list through your online opt-in. If I’ve met you in person and you’ve given me a card, I’ll email once to ask you to confirm before you hear from me again.
I don’t sell or share your personal information with third parties, other than the providers above who store or process it on my behalf, unless the law requires me to.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by emailing contact@shanemhatton.com. I’ll do it, and I’ll tell you when it’s done.
This site is written for adults at work. It isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Nothing sent over the internet is completely secure, and I can’t promise otherwise. I use reputable providers, keep access to a minimum, and don’t keep what I don’t need.
