About Shane
When people ask me what I do, the short and simple answer is:
I help leaders.
I know what it’s like to have more work on your desk than you have space in your calendar. I understand the challenges that come with trying to lead and mobilise large teams when you can’t get one-to-one with everyone. My work focuses on helping leaders to build and leverage their platform to lead at scale, to have more impact with less effort, ultimately creating more space for them to do what they do best.
I’m passionate about how leaders communicate and connect, whether in the conference room, the meeting room or the lunch room. You can’t build a great marriage or relationship without effective communication; in the same way, you don’t build strong teams with weak communication. It is this message I deliver through mentoring, training and speaking for organisations and individuals across a variety of sectors. I believe that great communication is about more than just ‘speaking’; it has to be viewed through the lens of leadership, and that’s the fun, creative and engaging journey I take people on.
I’ve spent the past 12 years working and speaking to leaders in organisations across a range of sectors, drawing on and combining my expertise and experience in business and psychology. I’m a creative at heart, though, so you can be sure that a journey with me will follow the road less travelled and it will be remembered.

Don’t Just Speak. Lead.
We live in a world that is more globally connected than ever before, with easier access to information than any other point in history. And yet, in the moments that matter, in times of uncertainty, change or crisis, people don’t just look for more information, content or instruction, they look to a leader. In these moments, great leaders are not just those who can inform or instruct but those who can lead, inspire and mobilise.

Capture & Communicate Your Thoughts.
Research suggests that 74% of people experience some type of speech anxiety or fear of public speaking. If you thought it was just you, then you can relax knowing you’re not alone. Maybe public speaking doesn’t intimidate you, but you’re a leader who wants to leverage and grow your influence or inspire action and change in those you lead. This keynote is for people at every stage of the journey. Whether it’s a toast at an event, a board meeting, a town hall presentation or just getting your team on board with an idea at a stand up, a lack of confidence or skills in this area can significantly impact your personal and/or professional potential.
- Discover how to effectively translate your thoughts into words and then deliver them with impact.

- Walk away with a simple process to capture and communicate your thoughts.
Lead with Stories.
Research by Neuroscientist Paul Zak has found that “character-driven stories with emotional content result in a better understanding of the key points a speaker wishes to make and enable better recall of these points weeks later”. If you have ever had the privilege of speaking to a room full of people, you will understand the power of effective storytelling. But knowing what story to tell, and when, is a critical skill that every leader must be able to master. Great storytelling goes much deeper than getting your message across, it’s a tool to help people connect.

Messaging that Sticks.
Communication without a strong and clear message is like a car without a steering wheel, you go where momentum takes you? But great leaders and teams don’t just go with momentum, they create it. Do you have a great product or idea but struggle to communicate its value? Are you the best kept secret, but need the world to know? Are you saying the same thing over and over but not getting traction? Do you have an idea but struggle to share it succinctly? The ability to create and deliver effective messaging is arguably one of the most important communication skills a leader can possess. To deliver impactful and engaging content that consistently reinforces a clear intent is a tension every leader must manage.

- Create and shape a winning culture through shared language.

Shane is one of the most natural & effective communicators I have witnessed. In an audience of many hundreds, he has the unique ability to communicate so relevantly & personally that the impact is genuine & individual. He is as effective one on one as to a room of thousands.
Shanes approach to ‘Leading the room’ takes presenting beyond just presentations and public speaking; and makes it relatable to every day interactions: how to make an impression, and effectively get your message across to any audience. The half day workshop that we undertook was engaging and fun; using an active example to workshop was a great approach to illustrate how we could apply our new skills. I would recommend this session to other organisations looking to enhance the delivery of their messages and support strong leadershipCassie Moore - Royal Flying Doctor Service
Shane ran his "Lead the Room" training session for EthicalJobs.com.au to help us prepare for presenting at our NFP People Conference which attracts 500+ people. Shane is an excellent trainer with a genuine passion and in-depth knowledge on the topic of presenting - covering both communication and content. He has developed a very smart and logical model for his training that brings together all the key ingredients for delivering a great presentation to an audience. Our team came away from this session with much more confidence and clarity about what we need to do. I would highly recommend Shane for this training.
I had the pleasure of working with Shane at the Public Sector Comms Leaders conference where I saw him speak. Not only is Shane exceptionally entertaining as a speaker, he is extremely informative. As someone who works with coaches and speakers on the day-to-day, I couldn’t recommend Shane more. He was the highlight of the conference.Helen Turnbull
